Microsoft Special Pricing Initiative

Microsoft Enterprise Agreement for Small and Independent Federal Agencies for FY05 - FY07

Overview:

Three years ago, the Small and Independent Agency CIO Council worked with Microsoft to create a special discount program to allow small agencies to purchase an Enterprise Agreement (EA) from Microsoft at a reduced price. That EA was for FY02 - FY04. I am happy to announce that we have worked with Microsoft to renew the agreement for FY05 - FY07. This will allows agencies with existing EAs to renew or for agencies who don't have an EA to enter into one.

An EA is one in hich the agency pays a fixed price each year for your Microsoft software. You are then allowed to upgrade the software whenever new versions come out. EAs have several benefits: 1) reduced pricing 2) for budgeting purposes, you will know in advance exactly what your software cost will be 3) you can stay current with the latest versions. Microsoft also throws in many other benefits, like free Home Use software licenses for your agency staff, free training and support, and other things. All the details are in the documents below.

Some agencies already have an EA with Microsoft. The advantage of going with the Small Agency EA agreement, rather then your own, is that our pricing is based on an aggregate of the total number of desks in the small agencies. Since there are over 100,000 FTEs in the small agencies, this is a substantial discount. If your agency already has an EA, you are welcome to renew it with the Small Agency EA when yours runs out. (Talk to Microsoft for details).

When you are ready to make the purchase, you will actually be buying it through one of Microsoft's GSA software resellers. So the purchase is pretty easy to do. The resellers have all been made aware of the special pricing.
